To get the most bang for your buck, strike when the iron – or in this case the selling price – is hot.

But when is the best time to shop on Prime Day?

According to The Post's Victoria Giardina, a trade journalist and content strategist, “deals are always subject to change during Amazon Prime Big Deal Days.”

When does Prime Day end in October?

The two-day October Discount Bonanza, the second Prime Deal event of the year, runs from Tuesday, October 8th to Wednesday, October 9th.

Giardina highlighted the BISSELL Little Green Multi-Purpose Portable Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner as an example. The item was on sale for $99 through Prime Day – then dropped to a low of $81.99 on Tuesday.

The OXO Good Grips Foldaway Dish Rack was on sale for $34.99 a few days ago, but it is now no longer available at the low retail price.

Do I have to be a Prime member to shop on Prime Day in October?

Just because something isn't on sale on the first day of Amazon Prime Big Deal Days, which are exclusive to Prime members, doesn't mean it won't be available for a deal on the second day. Conversely, products may be on sale on the first day but at full price the next day – or worse, sold out.

Amazon also offers flash deals – short-term special offers on certain items that are available for a few hours at most.

“Keep an eye on the product category or product you are purchasing, use your best judgment like we do, and don’t be fooled by crossed-out prices and red percent signs,” Giardina said.

“Sometimes a 20% discount on a high-priced item is much better than a 50% discount on a $10 shampoo.”

If you're wondering what makes a good deal, The Post's PJ McCormick, a deals writer and reporter, previously shared that he's “thrilled” when a product or service is more than 35% off.

However, he also advised shoppers to pay attention to customer reviews, compare prices with other online retailers and try to find the best deals on more expensive products like TVs, air conditioners, Apple devices and more.

Prime Big Deal Days vs. Prime Day

The only real difference between sales bonanzas, as McCormick explains, is the month in which they occur.

Amazon's current Prime Big Deal Days are closer to Christmas than its predecessor in July, Prime Day, and offer a fantastic opportunity to start your holiday shopping early.

For this week's sales, the Post Wanted team has rounded up some of the best discounts on fan-favorite products from this week's sale and updates its running list during Amazon Prime Big Deal Days.

“Amazon likes to keep us updated, and the Post Wanted shopping team is here to take the guesswork out of you by updating our content to reflect the very best prices,” Giardina said.
