When are the Detroit Lions playing today?

Welcome to Week 5 of the 2024 NFL season, which began Thursday night with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers meeting Atlanta Falcons in an NFC South Division overtime match.

The Lions won't play on Sunday and are enjoying the bye week after their 3-1 start to the season leaves them second in the NFC North behind the Minnesota Vikings.

Are the Lions playing today?

No. The Lions are not playing today or this week. They are in a bye week after winning 42-29 at home in an entertaining battle against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 4 on Monday night. Jared Goff set a record by completing all 18 of his passes, although our film study showed there was still room for improvement. The Lions have a plus-22 point differential with 104 points scored versus 82 points allowed.

The Lions join three other teams on byes in the Los Angeles Chargers, Philadelphia Eagles and Tennessee Titans. This is the first bye week this season. The final bye week is Week 14, with six teams out.
