British YouTuber arrested over rape allegations on Perth show

Barrientos' defense attorney, Seamus Rafferty, sought an order suppressing the publication of his client's name, saying it would jeopardize his right to a fair trial.

However, journalists in court rejected this request and no orders were issued.

Rafferty said his client should be treated the same as any other defendant despite his status, and there was a possibility Barrientos would remain in custody for two years pending trial if he was not granted bail.

He argued that the complainant's credibility was being questioned because she called her friend at 5.30am the morning after the alleged crime and did not mention what had happened, and that the prosecution's arguments were not as convincing as they claimed .

Judge Tanya Watt used the morning to consider the applications but ultimately decided to release Barrientos on bail, acknowledging there would be a significant delay before his charges were resolved.

However, it imposed strict conditions.

Barrientos will be forced to remain in Washington while he fights the charges – which police prosecutors said would involve the issue of consent – and he will be unable to communicate with his millions of followers on social media about the case communicate.

He must sign a personal bond of $100,000 and a surety bond of $100,000 must also be signed by someone in WA.

Barrientos must also surrender his passport and report to Northbridge Police Station every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

He is also not allowed to stay within 500 meters of the alleged victim or witness and is not allowed to visit hotels or nightclubs.

Barrientos will appear in court again on December 19.
