Acadiana's warm weather pattern will continue as we finish the last day of September and move into October.

However, we will be watching a potential tropical system rise from the northwest Caribbean and enter the Gulf of Mexico later this week…which appears to be a chaotic, low-confidence forecast at this point.

At this time, Acadiana does not appear to be directly threatened by this system, but we could see the possibility of some tropical showers toward the end of the week.

Additionally, tropical climatology indicates that most storms in the Gulf during the first week of October are more likely to affect the central and more likely the eastern Gulf of Mexico.

As for our weather in the near future, look for calm but warm conditions through Thursday, a few showers possible through Friday, and next weekend will be dry and warm again (barring any tropical surprises).

Additionally, perhaps a small cool front may arrive in a week or so…but refreshingly cool and/or gumbo weather is still a long way off.
