Rob Marciano is back at work, making a dramatic return to television as he covered the deadly Hurricane Milton from Florida.

The meteorologist resurfaced on CBS after leaving ABC Good morning America in April.

Marciano debuted on CBS Evening News on Tuesday, October 8th. He shared a photo on Instagram of himself in Tampa with the CBS News emblem on his jacket. He accompanied it with the words: “Back to work…be safe, Florida #Milton #CBSNews

Viewers were thrilled to see the familiar face back on air. One wrote: “ABC’s loss. I'm really happy for you. Enjoy CBS!” Celebrity chef Ryan Scott hilariously said: “As your close friend, may I say #Hottie

Hurricane Milton made landfall near Siesta Key in Sarasota County on the evening of October 9, the National Hurricane Center reported. The storm hit Florida's Gulf Coast as a Category 3 storm, bringing dangerous maximum sustained winds of 120 miles per hour, flooding rain and a devastating storm surge.

Marciano's boss at CBS News is someone he knows well before ABC News managing director Wendy Fisher leads CBS News' weather operations. Accordingly, the couple should have a good relationship Status newsletter from Oliver Dancy.

ABC News dropped Marciano after he repeatedly complained about his behavior over the years, to the point where he was temporarily banned from the broadcast GMA Sentence.

According to sources at The Daily Beast, Marciano was fired after he launched a tirade against one of the GMA producers. Ginger Zee, the network's chief meteorologist, reportedly overheard the outbreak and went to higher authorities because it matched similar reported incidents that had occurred on set in the past.

Marciano had been with ABC for about a decade and also served as chief meteorologist World news tonight. The 56-year-old's broadcasting career also included stints at Entertainment tonight and CNN.

CBS News has made some moves in recent weeks. Jeff Glor, co-host for CBS Saturday Morningswas among those laid off by Paramount Global in September. Jericka Duncan has signed on as an anchor CBS Weekend News. Norah O'Donnell is expected to retire CBS Evening News after the presidential election for a senior correspondent role.

The channel secured a new contract with Gayle King, which will see her continue as co-host of “ CBS Morningwhich has increased its audience. So much so that it took another hour CBS Mornings Plus on September 30th Tony Dokoupil and Adriana Diaz at the top.
