Justin Fields gives an insightful message about the Pittsburgh Steelers offense “I think we have an identity, I just don’t know what it is”: Justin Fields on the Steelers’ offense

Key moments

The Browns offense can't overcome the slow start

The Browns and Commanders combined for five three-and-out drives in the first quarter as both offenses looked sluggish early in the game. The Commanders' offense picked up steam, scoring 24 points before halftime. The Browns failed to do so, scoring just one field goal in the first 30 minutes of the game.

The Commanders struck first with their first explosive play of the day. Facing immediate pressure from S Grant Delpit and CB Greg Newsome II, Daniels rolled right and unleashed a 66-yard shot to rushing WR Terry McLaurin. Ward tackled McLaurin before reaching the end zone, a touchdown-saving play that paid off a few plays later when LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah made a diving interception to win the ball back for the Browns' offense.

However, the Browns offense was unable to capitalize on the defense's first interception of the season, going three-and-out and giving the ball right back to the Commanders offense, who scored the first points of the game with a touchdown from Brian Robinson Jr Running achieved during the day.

Cleveland got on the scoreboard early in the second quarter. After the offense stalled in Commanders territory, K Dustin Hopkins made a 51-yard field goal. It would be their only score of the first half, as Watson completed just eight of his 18 pass attempts for 66 yards and the Browns' rushing offense totaled just 14 yards at halftime.

After six punts in the first half, Cleveland had dug itself a deep hole in the form of a 21-point deficit, which only increased in the second half until the game was already out of control.
