The Miami Dolphins' struggles continued on Monday as they lost to the previously winless Tennessee Titans 31-12.

With Tua Tagovailoa still on injured reserve, the Dolphins' offense was sluggish. Quarterback Tyler Huntley had just 96 passing yards and Miami totaled just 106 yards on the ground as the Dolphins played conservatively compared to the high-powered offenses fans had become accustomed to last season.

The Titans' starting quarterback, Will Levis, suffered a shoulder injury in the first quarter of the game, prompting Tennessee to bring in backup Mason Rudolph at center. Even though the starting quarterback was sidelined for most of the game, Tennessee had no problems with Miami.

After the loss, fans expressed their frustration with head coach Mike McDaniel, claiming he was unable to handle Tagovailoa off the field on offense.

The biggest problem I see is that Mike McDaniel is having a hard time adjusting his offense back to the needs of a backup QB.
We saw a spark of what Huntley can do well in this last drive, but three illegal shift penalties are on the play caller.

For Mike McDaniel and his staff, the calling tonight is inexcusable. I will never understand throwing or scrimmaging the ball 4-5 yards behind the line when it is 3 yards short. He did it all night long. Didn't put his team in a position to win. Hot Seat has been activatedโ€ฆ.

I don't care what the personnel situation is for Miami, that East-West play call from Mike McDaniel hasn't worked for a minute and he won't give it up. Stinks.

Unfortunately for McDaniel, he will be without his star quarterback for at least two more games. By placing Tagovailoa on the injured list following his horrific concussion in Week 2, the Dolphins committed themselves to being without him until at least the end of October, although he could still end up missing more time.

In the meantime, McDaniel will have to figure out how to cope without Tagovailoa on the field.

Even with Tagovailoa missing, Miami still has one of the league's best receivers in Tyreek Hill and another strong option in Jaylen Waddle. These two are capable of making plays downfield no matter who is in the middle, and McDaniel should consider including them more in the future.

After Monday's loss, the Dolphins have a chance to bounce back against AFC East opponent New England Patriots. Given that we are now 1-3 this year, it is fair to say that the matchup will be crucial.
