Not for the first time, a CNN panel saw a heated exchange between participants about whether Donald Trump was a racist.

The bitter war of words appeared in the Monday evening edition of News Night with Abby Phillip after Scott Jennings, a former GOP strategist, said it was “perfectly fine to acknowledge” that some people are “genetically predisposed to violence.”

“All he comments on are the violent murderers that are in the country,” Jennings added to Trump’s suggestion that migrants who murder in the U.S. do so because “it’s in their genes.” “What is being said about him today is simply not true.”

The former president's racial bias sparked a similarly loud exchange during the show's Sept. 10 broadcast, when former Trump adviser David Urban and Democratic strategist Keith Boykin argued over whether the Republican nominee was in a “dead heat.” his support at the time due to his appeal among racist whites.

Responding to Jennings on Monday's show, Michael Eric Dyson, a liberal academic and panelist, said that Trump was “developing nativist language to invoke the genetic basis of behavior” and that this “represents a classic definition of what we mean by white supremacy.”

The discussion remained relatively civil as former RNC spokeswoman Madison Gesiotto defended Trump before quickly escalating after she asked columnist and Rabbi Jay Michaelson if he was okay with allowing “13,000 murderers” into the country.

Speaking beyond the resulting noise, moderator Phillips Gesiotto pointed out that these figures, spread over several decades, offer a “completely misleading” picture of the true level of crime committed by migrants, which is significantly lower than those born in this country USA

The raucous exchange continued, with Gesiotto arguing that the data still shows that “many rapists and murderers have come here” and Michaelson responding that this still occurs “less frequently than among natural-born citizens.”

Phillips later fact-checked Gesiotto again on her claim that migrants convicted of serious and violent crimes are “somehow still roaming the country,” with Gesiotto continuing to talk about them as she did.

As the chaos continued, Michaelson finally appeared to offer Jennings something of an olive branch, saying, “You could make a non-racist argument for immigration control, and I would be open to hearing it,” to which Jennings shot back, “And you could be honest about it.” argue what you say!”
