It's halftime in the first two games. Abdallah Sima put Brest ahead at Salzburg – and top of the current Champions League table, and yes, we're taking advantage of that – while Stuttgart are level at home to Sparta Prague. Enzo Millot scored for Stuttgart; Kaan Kairinen equalized for Sparta.

Good evening everyone. Life moves pretty quickly and tomorrow evening we will be a quarter of the way through the new league phase of the Champions League. A quarter! Two eighths! Before you know it, it will be May 31, 2025 and Carlo Ancelotti will be eating another celebratory cigar.

Carlo's men are not in action tonight, but there are nine games taking place, involving eight former winners of the competition. The most eye-catching contest is between two teams who have never been European champions: Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain, who meet at the Emirates Stadium. There are two meetings between former champions: Borussia Dortmund (1997) against Celtic (1967) and Internazionale (1964, 1965, 2010) at home against Red Star Belgrade (1991).

Manchester City and Barcelona have winnable games, while AC Milan face a difficult trip to Leverkusen. They were soundly beaten by Liverpool two weeks ago and their coach Paulo Fonseca is aware that no team has qualified for the league after defeats in their first two games.
