If you thought the fantasy landscape was a mess, just wait. The byes are coming up in Week 5, which means the makeup of the lineup gets even more awkward. Next week we have to do without the Lions, Eagles, Chargers and Titans.

Luckily, we're here to help you. Each week we highlight the top fantasy football waiver prospects who remain available in at least 50% of Yahoo Fantasy leagues. If you have significant roster needs, the following names deserve your attention.

Fields is no longer undefeated after Sunday's visit to Indianapolis, but he certainly did enough to remain the Steelers' starting quarterback for at least another week. He passed for 312 yards and a score against the Colts while rushing for 55 yards and two more touchdowns. It wasn't a flawless game, as he lost a fumble in ugly circumstances and was sacked four times, but the comeback performance was still impressive.

We hadn't experienced the full Fields dual-threat fantasy experience this year, but Sunday's early deficit created ideal scoring conditions. His weekly cap is obviously as high as anyone else's. Fields plays at home against Dallas this week, a game that was unexpectedly friendly in the first month of the season. The Cowboys also lost some important defensive players on Thursday evening.

Recommended FAB offer (on a budget of $100): $7

This simply serves as a weekly reminder that Smith is in control of a heavy offense with multiple high-level weapons. Entering Monday night's game in Detroit, he is averaging 262.3 passing yards per game and completing an incredible 74.8% of his attempts.

Smith already has a season on his resume where he finished as the overall QB5, so we don't have to question whether he can maintain a high level of play through the entire 17 games. We saw it. He is fully cleared to play against the Giants in Week 5.

  • Andy Dalton has thrown five touchdown passes in the last two weeks, heroically leading Diontae Johnson back to fantasy relevance. The upcoming matchup in Chicago is a challenge, but Dalton then faces Atlanta and Washington in Weeks 6 and 7.

  • It must be Drake Maye It's almost that time, isn't it? New England currently ranks last in total offense (238.8 YPG) while averaging just 13.0 points per game. There's no way things would look any worse with a dynamic newcomer in charge. Miami, Houston and Jacksonville are up for the Pats, so it's not like Maye is facing a series of impossible matchups.

Kansas City's backfield is currently full of questionable names and bad ideas. Carson Steele cannot hold the football reliably, which led to his minimal workload on Sunday (three touches). Samaje Perine and Hunt are covered in dust, but they did most of the heavy lifting against the Chargers. Ultimately, Hunt led the backfield in touches (16) and scrimmage yards (85), although his play wasn't all that elusive. None of these guys are able to match Isiah Pacheco's production, which is a serious problem for a team that is short on playmakers.

Hunt is definitely worth checking for on waivers based on Sunday's usage, but keep Edwards-Helaire in your plans, too. CEH will parachute into the running backs gallery of this rogue returning soon from the NFI roster, and he could quickly become interesting. Whenever he feels good, he will play. His services are urgently needed.

We can't look at the KC backfield as an empty wallet FAB situation these days, so we wouldn't advise you to do anything reckless.

Fabulous: $18 and $8

Dowdle has established himself as the only player in Dallas' backfield that needs to be used in almost all fantasy formats. He continues to overtake, overtake and overtake Ezekiel Elliott.

Dowdle made his first home visit of the season Thursday night and finished with 61 yards on a dozen touches. He also drew three straight games, for what that's worth.

The Cowboys' upcoming matchups are far from ideal (in Pit, Det), but this team has a layup set of user-friendly run defenses ahead of them in November and December.

Fabulous: $12

  • Jonathan Taylor was an unstoppable force as always on Sunday, but suffered an ankle injury late in the game that will be a concern all week. Trey sermon is the clear No. 2 guy in this team's backfield hierarchy, so he's definitely worth adding.

  • Tyler Allgeier delivered 80 scrimmage yards on 10 touches in Sunday's win and played a season-high 38% of Atlanta's offensive snaps. He definitely fought his way back into the Flex conversation with all his might.

  • Emanuel Wilson Didn't post any notable stats against the Vikings, but played 30 snaps and served as a full committee member.

  • Tank Bigsby He carried seven balls for an impressive 90 yards in Jacksonville's narrow loss on Sunday. Travis Etienne has been dealing with a shoulder problem, which has led to additional opportunities for his replacement. Bigsby is now averaging 8.2 YPC on his 21 rush attempts.

  • Buffalo's defense was punished by the Ravens' backfield on Sunday night as Derrick Henry delivered a top-notch performance and Justice Hill delivered a total of 96 yards and a score on 10 touches. Hill has exceeded 50 scrimmage yards in three of his four games this season, serving as a perfect complementary defender alongside the exhausting Henry.

It's hard to say whether Wicks just gave us the worst or best bad game of the season. Let's just say it's been a journey.

Wicks was targeted 13 times against the Vikings, dropping multiple passes and at the same time five, including two points. He's an excellent separator and Jordan Love has been looking for him early and often, so we can probably live with a few missed opportunities.

Christian Watson suffered a nasty injury to his upper ankle in the loss to Minnesota, which could obviously lead to additional opportunities for Wicks in the coming weeks. Green Bay gets a matchup against the Rams next Sunday.

Fabulous: $16

The first-round rookie looked good on Sunday, catching six balls for 66 yards on 10 targets. His first NFL results included:

Legette should of course see additional opportunities with Adam Thielen out for several weeks (hamstring injury), plus he's a beneficiary of Andy Dalton's resurgence in Carolina. It's still early in development, but we're talking about a 220+ pound human with 4.39-inch wheels and a 40-inch riser. Legette is not lacking in potential.

Find something in this life that you love half as much as Daniel Jones loves throwing to Robinson on third down.

On Thursday night, Robinson was littered with scoring, catching 11 balls for 71 yards on 14 opportunities. He is averaging 9.5 targets per game this season and has caught 18 passes for 132 yards over the last two weeks. Without question, Robinson needs to be featured in any full PPR league.

  • Josh Downs scored eight of nine on Sunday, thrived with Joe Flacco under center and finished the game with 82 yards and a score. He looks healthy after missing much of training camp with an ankle sprain. We can't promise he'll remain a consistent dream option alongside Anthony Richardson at QB, but he's a talented receiver who deserves significant target value.

  • Tre Tucker went home for the Raiders on Sunday, managing six touches and totaling 44 yards. He's a viable backup player in deeper leagues, no matter how long Davante Adams is sidelined.

  • We shouldn't expect any significant volume Tutu Atwellbut he specializes in field flip plays. In his last two games, he has converted eight catches into 175 receiving yards.

  • Tucker Kraft continues to be faster than Luke Musgrave in Green Bay, posting six catches and 53 yards. In a season where there is no clear right answer at tight end, Kraft deserves a shot at someone on the roster in most leagues.

  • Zach Ertz has caught 15 of 16 targets through four weeks, which shouldn't be a big surprise since its quarterback is completing an incredible 82.1% of his throws. We're still waiting for Ertz's first touchdown of 2024, although he actually scored a two-point conversion on Sunday.

Another week, another double-digit fantasy total from the Broncos D. This group has defeated the Bucs and Jets in back-to-back wins while allowing just 16 total points. Patrick Surtain II has wiped out elite receivers while his teammates are piling up sacks (12 in the last two weeks). Denver gets a home game with the Raiders in Week 5, so don't be afraid to spend an extra dollar.
