In the fourth game of the 2024 season for the New York Jets, the Jets lost to the Denver Broncos 10-9 on a rainy early fall afternoon in East Rutherford, New Jersey. It was a disappointing loss for a team the Jets were supposed to beat at home.

After a first half dominated by defense, the Jets went into the locker room leading the Broncos 6-0.

The Jets opened the third quarter on defense and quickly shut down the Broncos. The third quarter continued with both defenses dominating until Bo Nix and the Broncos finally broke through late in the quarter with a nice drive that culminated in a touchdown pass to Courtland Sutton and a 7-6 Broncos lead.

The fourth quarter began with the Jets driving deep into Broncos territory at the 23-yard line. That attack faltered and the Jets had to settle for a 40-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter for a 9-7 lead.

The Broncos came right back, running the ball down the Jets' throats and eventually scoring a 47-yard field goal and a 10-9 Broncos lead with just under nine minutes to play.

On the next drive, the Jets got something going on offense and pushed into Broncos territory before a sack on third down forced a Jets punt.

The Jets forced a Broncos three-and-out and forced a punt, and the Jets got the ball at their own 33-yard line with 2:31 left and needed a score to win the game.

Two quick completions gave the Jets a first down near midfield at the two-minute warning. About 20 more yards would put the Jets in position to win the game with a field goal. Unfortunately, it wasn't to be. Three straight incompletions, followed by a sack by Aaron Rodgers on fourth down, stifled the drive and sent the Jets into overdrive. It wasn't over yet.

The Jets forced a quick three-and-out, leading to a 50-yard field goal attempt that the Broncos missed. The Jets were in business. A completion to Breece Hall and a pass interference call on a pass to Mike Williams quickly gave the Jets a first down within reach of a long field goal. Ultimately, the Jets settled for a 50-yard field goal attempt. Greg Zuerlein, who almost missed all day, ended up missing at the worst possible time. The Broncos took over and got into victory formation.

The loss drops the Jets' season record to 2-2. Next week the Jets play a game in London, England at 9:30 a.m. EDT against their old friend Sam Darnold and the Minnesota Vikings.
