First Friday, a monthly business promotion evening event organized by Marietta Main Street, will be held downtown on Friday from 5 to 9 p.m., where shoppers will enjoy sales, sales, pop-ups and artists, and dining specials at participating restaurants find.

The first Friday in October is Farm Fresh and is sponsored by Peoples Bank.

The participating companies recognize the hard-working farmers with their window displays or special offers.

The Armory's lawn on Front Street will include Artsbridge, the United Way Alliance of the Mid-Ohio Valley and GoPacks, with Kid Central and fun activities for children on site. The lawn will also host FFA groups, luxury parties and picnics, as well as the Art Beat Studio and more.

Several companies will celebrate anniversaries on Friday, including Peoples Bank.

The SIPS coffee truck will be parked on Second Street and will join in the celebration by serving a special Peoples Bank beverage for the occasion.

On Front Street, Teri Ann's is celebrating its 63rd anniversary with a 20 percent storewide discount and hosting local author Bonnie Donnelly, who will be signing her book. “Mr. Murphy, a heavenly cat”, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m “Mr. Murphy, a heavenly cat” is the true story that tells how the Turkish Angora cat invades her granddaughter Addison's life after she is diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.

First City Records on Front Street celebrates its first anniversary with alternative country artist Shawn Benfield from Beckley, W.Va. Shoppers can also enjoy special sales and hourly prize drawings throughout the evening.

A few doors down from First City Records, Clutch Collective hosts live music with Gypsy River from 6 to 8 p.m. Next door at Wit & Whimzy, the store welcomes jewelry artist Jo June with her hand-painted jewelry and 10% off all farm themed toys from children's boutique Whimzy Too.

Dad's Primitive Workbench offers 50% off all clothing and jewelry and 40% off kids' Halloween outfits. Marietta Makery celebrates the farming community by discounting all items with the color green.

Sugar Maple Boutique is offering 15% off all regular priced items. All fall and Halloween garden art at American Flags and Poles is 50% off with one purchase.

On Second Street, Rockstar Wellness will host Worthington Produce and have pumpkins for sale. Penny Pinchers is giving away a free pumpkin carving kit with any purchase of $25 or more, while supplies last.

Participating restaurants include the Lafayette Hotel, offering dining and cocktail specials.

At Over the Moon Pub and Pizza, a 16-inch Veggie Lovers pizza is $20 and a pint of Wyndridge Imperial Pumpkin Cider is $5. The pizzeria will host musician Scott Shaull from 7 to 10 p.m

Whit's Frozen Custard will be entered into a drawing for a free quart with any purchase of $10 or more. Wilky's Sports Bar is offering a special for the evening.

Downtown First Fridays take place on the first Friday of the month from 5 to 9 p.m. Highlights include late shopping, artists and musicians, regional organizations and themed activities.

Every First Friday is a community celebration and an opportunity for residents, tourists and groups to show their support for Marietta, have fun and enjoy the beauty of Marietta's vibrant, historic downtown.
