Former Noles pitchers want to make a difference in the MLB playoffs

Former Seminole pitchers will look to perform for their teams as they prepare for baseball in October. Luke Weaver, Cole Ragans and DL Hall will all look to provide quality pitching for their respective teams as the former Noles found success in the 2024 regular season.

Yankees relief pitcher Luke Weaver played baseball in Tallahassee from 2012 to 2014. In the 2013 season, Weaver threw 98 innings with a 2.29 ERA and followed that in 2014 with a 2.62 ERA. During Weaver's time at Florida State, he maintained a record of 16-6 as a starting pitcher. Weaver moved to the bullpen for the first time this year and became the first relief pitcher since 2018 to strike out 100 batters in his first season with the Yankees.

Former Nole Cole Ragans is one of the best starters in the league for the Kansas City Royals. Ragans came out of FSU in 2016 and was drafted in the first round by the Royals. This season, Ragans reached the All-Star Game for the first time in his career, posting a 3.14 ERA and helping the Royals reach the playoffs for the first time since 2015.

Brewers pitcher DL Hall is another former Seminole player who has provided elite pitching for his team this season and is expected to pitch innings in the playoffs. Hall was another first-round pick out of FSU in 2017 and made his MLB debut with the Orioles in 2022. This is Hall's first season in Milwaukee, as he spent most of the season on the injured list but will be fully healthy for the Brewer's playoff run.

FSU's pitching pipeline will finally showcase its talent on baseball's biggest stage. Ragans will begin Game 1 of the Royals Wild Card Series on Tuesday, facing Corbin Burnes. We'll see DL Hall in relief this week as the Brewers will be playing in a wild card series. As for Luke Weaver, we'll have to wait for him since the Yankees have a bye in the first round.
