WASHINGTON — Donald Trump may be unhappy with Georgia's governor again. Brian Kemp – the governor of Georgia honored former President Jimmy Carter on his 100th birthday.

“Today I proclaimed 'Jimmy Carter Day' in the state of Georgia to recognize his legacy as our 76th governor and 39th president,” Kemp said in a statement posted on the social media site X. “Marty, the girls and I send him our best wishes as he and his family celebrate this milestone.”

Trump, who has clashed with Kemp over the conduct of the 2020 election in Georgia, has attacked Carter throughout the election year and compared his presidency to that of his former opponent, President Joe Biden.

The Carter family has expressed similarly dark views of Trump.

The Carter Center released a series of videos Tuesday of people praising the 39th president, including successors Biden, Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton — but nothing from Trump.

The state proclamation for “Jimmy Carter Day” said the former president “remained a person of strong convictions and a staunch advocate for the common good.”

It continued: “Of his many accomplishments, he is perhaps best known as a loving husband, caring humanitarian and valued Sunday school teacher.”

Carter, who is receiving hospice care, spent the big day at his home in Plains, Georgia.

CBS News captured video of family and friends gathering in Carter's backyard. At one point, the country's oldest president was driven out to attend a military flyover.

Jason Carter, the former president's grandson, has told reporters that he wanted to live for one reason: to vote for Vice President Kamala Harris over Trump.

After Kemp announced his proclamation about President Carter, Jason Carter said on X: “Thank you @GovKemp. He always said that being governor of Georgia was his favorite job!”
