Goldie also spoke about “Peace through Understanding the Brain.”

“I absolutely understand being more mindful, and that's the result of MindUP,” she explained, then revealed, “After 9/11, I realized I was deathly afraid of the atomic bomb.”

“It caused trauma for me.” I assumed that these children would experience some level of that. In this case I then created this program. “I am not the founder, I am the creator.”

Hawn added, “And I thought, 'Why don't kids learn about their brains?' Why do we ask them to use it but don’t teach them how to use it?’ So that’s the first thing in our program.”

The foundation also promotes “brain breaks in the classroom,” which “helps calm the amygdala.” “They know exactly what’s going on in their brain.”

“When we give them context, they actually have more control over their emotions so they know how to regulate…”

The First Wives Club star later said: “If we don't seriously look at our children as the next generation… we have so many mental health issues right now, we've committed suicide, it's gotten worse…”

“So this is an area where we need to address this because we develop the mind, and when we develop the brain, we do it in the classroom.”

“And they have a lot more insight into that and then know how to open their prefrontal cortex so they can learn.”

Towards the end of the interview, Hawn said: “For parents, I think you need to do this too – remember, loneliness is something that can happen.”

“Take your friends with you and try to be with them, but don't stop listening to your children,” she added.

“People who have healthy sexual relationships tend to last a lot longer. “But it's not just because of the performance, but also because of the warmth and intimacy that it creates,” Goldie said, then jokingly added, “You have to get off and being too nice to each other.”

She also expressed, “You know you're not the same person.” You don't often think the same way. And you have to accept that, but you also have to measure: Are we having fun or is this something we want to do?'

“Do we laugh together?” Do we share certain things? “You don’t have to share everything.”

Hawn continued, “I think we have high expectations for relationships, but you have to like the person. That's very important.”
