The Cleveland Guardians have their ALDS opponent.

After defeating the Houston Astros in the Wild Card round of the MLB playoffs, the Detroit Tigers move on to the ALDS, where they will face first-year manager Stephen Vogt's Guardians.

The Guardians won the regular season game against Detroit in 2024, albeit narrowly.

Cleveland went 7-6 against the Tigers throughout the 2024 season, so the best-of-five ALDS between these two teams should be an even matchup.

When is ALDS Game 1 between the Guardians and Tigers? What channel is the game on?

The Guardians will play their first postseason game of 2024 on Saturday, October 5th.

First pitch is scheduled for 1:08 p.m. ET and the game will be televised on TBS and streamed on Max.

ALDS 2024 schedule between Guardians and Tigers

After these two teams play Game 1 on Saturday, here is the schedule for the rest of the series (TV channels in parentheses):

  • Game 2: Monday, October 7, 4:08 p.m. ET (TBS/Max/truTV)
  • Game 3: Wednesday, October 9th, TBD (TBS)
  • Game 4 (if required): Thursday, October 10, TBD (TBS)

What is the ALDS home/away format?

The best-of-five ALDS will have a 2-2-1 home/away format. MLB has followed this format since 1998.

Cleveland will play the first two games of the series at home at Progressive Field. Games 3 and 4 (if necessary) will be played in Detroit.

A series-clinching Game 5 would be played at the Guardians' home field with the teams splitting the first four games of the series.
