The Kansas City Chiefs are still going strong after their decisive win last Sunday night over the Atlanta Falcons. Experienced players played defense, preventing a possible comeback and ensuring the other Chiefs remained undefeated.

Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo spoke to reporters Thursday about linebacker Nick Bolton's impact on the unit.

“Yeah, it was great to see Nick (Bolton) make that last tackle. I mean, well, you all know he did it. His back was giving him trouble and he went back in,” Spagnuolo said. “And thank God we have people who can go in when Nick isn't there and still function the same way. I think this is huge. I mean, we all learned that last year right when Dru (Tranquil) had to take over. But if you lose that guy under center, it's like losing the quarterback, right? And even if it's three games, it's going to be difficult if you don't have someone who can go in there and who everyone feels comfortable with.

Bolton recovered from his injury just in time to make the game-saving tackle on Bijan Robinson. The clutch performance was further proof that Bolton is valuable to the defense.

“Nick just came back and did what he did,” Spagnuolo said. “I think we all know that about Nick: he has such great football instincts. He senses things and studies the game so he knows in advance when teams are going to do certain things. But I thought he played great.”

Bolton will look to recover quickly before the Chiefs travel to the West Coast for this Sunday's AFC West game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
