Northern lights can be visible as far south as Alabama, California Verstappen: “Next step my last in F1”

Detroit – The Tigers are itching to throw a party.

Detroit is just one win away from sending the Cleveland Guardians to the American League Division Series, and the Tigers can get that win done Thursday night in Game 4 at Comerica Park.

The Tigers have not won a postseason series at home since the 2012 AL Championship Series, in which they defeated the New York Yankees in four games. Their last two series winners were on the road, at the 2013 ALDS in Oakland and the 2024 ALDS in Houston.

“It would be good. It would be great,” Parker Meadows said after the 3-0 win in Game 3, the Tigers’ first home playoff game since 2014, which featured the largest crowd (44,885) in Comerica Park history.

“This city deserves it. They showed all year long.”

The Tigers secured their spot in the 2024 playoffs at home with a win over the Chicago White Sox to start the final series of the regular season.

The Tigers will turn to Reese Olson to start, with Tarik Skubal waiting in the wings to start Game 5 should that game be necessary Saturday in Cleveland. Olson worked in relief in Game 1, and the plan calls for a traditional start Wednesday, Tigers manager AJ Hinch said.

Meanwhile, right-hander Tanner Bibee will face the Tigers for the sixth time this season. He started Game 1 and pitched 4.2 scoreless innings. The Guardians have won four of his first five starts against Detroit this season.

The winner of the ALDS advances to the AL Championship Series and will face either the New York Yankees or the Kansas City Royals. The Yankees lead this series 2-1 after a 3-2 win on Wednesday night.

The ALCS would begin on Monday, and if the Tigers were there, it would begin in either New York or Kansas City.
