ForbesNYT “Strands” today: Clues, Spangram and answers for Tuesday, October 1st

Wednesday is here, dear beach residents, and with it a new puzzle to solve. I really enjoyed this NYTs puzzle, although I'm not sure it beats Wordle for me. On the other hand, I'm kind of a Wordle fan. So far I've only missed one. . . two and a half years or so. Strands tends to be a bit more peppy, with some extremely simple grids and others that really test your vocabulary. Let's solve today's problem!

Strands is the latest game in the New York Times puzzle game series. It's a fun twist on classic word search games. Each day we are given a new topic and then have to reveal all the words on the grid that fit that topic, including a spangram that spans two sides of the board. One of those words is this Spangram This goes from one side of the grid to the other and reveals even more about the topic of the day.

Spoilers ahead.

Today's Strands breakdown

I actually bought CROISSANTS today, so this puzzle is timely. Not like really good baked croissants, mind you, but a large tray from Sam's Club. I have mouths to feed! My kids and their friends would drag me out of the house if I didn't stock up. Plus – the zombie apocalypse. You have to be ready! Anyway, this was a pretty easy Strands because I have a foodie brain and found SCONE super quickly, then DANISH and then I went looking for PASTRY (how to make it) and everything else fell into place. Except GALETTE, which I have to admit I knew existed until today. You learn something new every day! Or rather, you should.
