Tarik Skubal ends the season with the American League Triple Crown Pete Rose is solely responsible for MLB's tarnished legacy

The Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks were back at Ford Field in the Motor City, and just like last year's matchup between these two teams, there was plenty of offense on display.

But unlike the final score of last season's game, the Lions emerged victorious 42-29 from the offensive attack on “Monday Night Football.”

The Lions improved to 3-1 on the year while handing the Seahawks their first loss of the year.

The Lions managed six touchdown drives against a Seahawks defense that allowed just 14.3 points per game through the first three weeks of the year. And offensive coordinator Ben Johnson pulled out all the stops, including a touchdown pass from Amon-Ra St. Brown to quarterback Jared Goff.

We had the “Philly Special” with the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl, but the Lions introduced the “Detroit Special” when the team threw the ball behind them to St. Brown for a run on the fourth touchdown of the game to the left, where his top wide receiver hit him with a quick strike for a seven-yard score to make it 28:14 in the second half.

Previously, it was Detroit's dynamic backfield duo, David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs, who scored the first three touchdowns on the ground. First, it was Montgomery who crossed the goal line to put Detroit on the field first.

Then the speedy Gibbs scored the next two touchdowns for Detroit, which finished the first half with a 21-7 lead over Seattle.

But this game wasn't a complete blowout, as Geno Smith and the Seahawks' offense remained determined to maintain their win-loss record flawlessly earlier this season.

They scored points on consecutive touchdown drives in the second half, as Smith hit rookie tight end AJ Barner for his first career end zone trip and Kenneth Walker, making his season debut after injury, scored his second touchdown of the game , which led to 28:20 after a failed two-point conversion attempt.

But in response, the Lions simply continued to find the end zone and only needed one play to do so. Jameson Williams caught a dig route from Goff and put his speed on full blast as he rushed 70 yards for the team's fifth touchdown of the night.

The Seahawks found the end zone again as Walker rushed 21 yards for his third rushing score of the night to keep his team in the game. However, the Lions struck the decisive blow in this game when St. Brown received an eight-yard pass, this time from Goff, making it 42:27.

Goff went a perfect 18-of-18 for 292 yards through the air for the Lions with two touchdown passes, while he scored his second career reception on this St. Brown touchdown catch.

St. Brown had six catches for 45 yards, while Williams' 70-yard touchdown comprised almost entirely of his 80 yards to lead the Lions through the air. On the ground, Gibbs rushed for 78 yards on 14 carries, while Montgomery rushed for 40 yards on 12 touches. Montgomery also had a 40-yard catch-and-run that showcased his strength as he fought through many tacklers.

For Seattle, Geno Smith set career highs in attempts (56), completions (38) and yards passing (395). But after throwing an interception on a desperate drive after the two-minute warning, those numbers were a loss Smith will likely remember even more.

However, Walker's return to the Seattle offense provides optimism for the future, as he rushed for 80 yards on 12 carries and caught four passes for 36 yards with his three touchdowns.

DK Metcalf was Smith's top target with seven catches for 104 yards. Tyler Lockett (5 catches, 61 yards) and Jaxon Smith-Njigba (8 catches, 51 yards) also helped Smith through the air.
