Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields' standout performances throughout the season have caught the attention of the Dallas Cowboys, who will travel to Acrisure Stadium in Week 5 for the Sunday Night Football showdown.

Cowboys linebacker Marist Luifau praised Fields' ability to tuck the ball and run, giving the Pittsburgh offense a dangerous dynamic that the defense must account for at all times.

“Just really fast,” Luifau said. “Jumps off the line and he’s a playmaker. If we let him come out with his speed, he can make plays. We have to be very disciplined with our rush lanes and remember that he can move.”

Fields had perhaps his best individual performance as a Steeler in Week 5 against the Indianapolis Colts, when he threw for 312 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 55 yards and two scores on the ground.

Since arriving in Pittsburgh, he has made significant progress as a passer, which has helped him develop into a more well-rounded player.

Dallas cornerback Trevon Diggs acknowledged that fact and explained that going against a multi-talented quarterback like Fields comes with all sorts of problems.

“He’s a running quarterback, so that always brings challenges,” Diggs said. “He can make the throws. He has good receivers to throw to, so we have to stay on our game.”

Fields has turned the ball over just twice all season, meaning he's on pace for the lowest total of his career after turning it over no fewer than 13 times in each of his last three seasons. His comfort level with the Steelers is evident, and it pays off in spades on the field.

Cowboys defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer has noted his growth this year, specifically mentioning his lack of turnovers and success in the passing game as major factors in that equation.

“I think he’s playing a lot better than he has been,” Zimmer said. “He throws the ball. I think he was 23 of 34 last week, something like that. I think he takes good care of football too.”
