Karl-Anthony Towns trade: Complete details on the 3-team deal between Knicks and Timberwolves

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the New York Knicks will reportedly send two second-round picks to the Charlotte Hornets to complete the trade for Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns.

The three teams are working to complete the deal before the start of the season, which was expanded to include additional compensation on Monday evening. The Hornets also receive another second-round pick from the Timberwolves and DaQuan Jeffries, Charlie Brown and Duane Washington Jr. from the Knicks.

The Athletic reported Friday that the Timberwolves have agreed to send Towns to the Knicks for Julius Randle, Donte DiVincenzo, Keita Bates-Diop and a first-round pick. The Knicks also receive the draft rights to 2023 second-round pick James Nnaji from the Hornets. Nnaji was the 31st pick.

The Knicks' acquisition of Towns increased their odds of winning the championship from plus-900 to plus-700, according to BetMGM Sportsbook. The team now has the third-best odds in the league, trailing only the Oklahoma City Thunder (plus-675) and Boston Celtics (plus-325).

The organization sent a message that it will now give everything to win, with a roster consisting of Towns, Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, OG Anunoby and Mikal Bridges, front office Bojan Bogdanovic and several unprotected first-round picks from Brooklyn replaced Nets this offseason.

Meanwhile, the Timberwolves part ways with a four-time All-Star and franchise cornerstone in Towns, whom they drafted with the first pick in 2015. The organization is confident that Naz Reid will take his place in the lineup, along with a young superstar in Anthony Edwards to lead the way.
