Kim Kardashian has reportedly visited two brothers who are currently serving life sentences for the brutal murder of their parents 35 years ago in California.

Lyle and Erik Menendez were convicted of shooting Jose and Kitty Menendez multiple times at close range in their Beverly Hills mansion on August 20, 1989. The brothers were 21 and 18 years old at the time.

A Netflix A drama based on a true crime is currently topping Netflix ratings.

The brothers were among the inmates who listened to Kardashian's speech about prison reform at the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego County, US entertainment channel TMZ reported.

Both brothers were involved in a project called Greenspace, which encourages prisoners to improve the appearance of prison yards to support their rehabilitation.

Kim is said to be with her sister Khloé, her mother Kris and the actor who plays Erik in the Netflix show, Cooper Koch.

Last week, the real Erik Menendez criticized the Netflix show, calling it “dishonest” and “inaccurate” and criticizing what he called the “obvious lies” that made up the characterization of his older brother Lyle.

In a statement, Erik's wife Tammi pointed out that this was done on purpose.”

He accused the show's creator, Ryan Murphy, of “bad intent” and said the show had set victims of male sexual assault back many years.

The brothers claimed they committed the murders in self-defense after years of alleged physical, emotional and sexual abuse.

Prosecutors argued they killed their parents to receive a large inheritance.

“It’s hard to see your life on screen”

Murphy, who directed the first season of “Monster” about US serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, responded to the comments, saying Erik hadn't actually watched the series and it was his duty as the show's creator to present both sides of the story.

Murphy told Entertainment Tonight: “When it's your life, it's really hard to see your life on screen…

“There were four people involved, two people are dead, what about the parents? As storytellers, we had a duty to include their perspective based on our research, which we did.”

Speaking to reporters last week at the series premiere in Los Angeles, Cooper Koch said he did a lot of research for the show.

The actor who plays Erik said: “I just read everything I could. I watched the entire trial (lawyer who defended the brothers) on the witness stand.”
