Las Vegas police are investigating a homicide near Hollywood Blvd and Sahara Ave

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a homicide in the east Las Vegas Valley near Hollywood Blvd. and Sahara Ave.

At approximately 4:22 p.m., officers responded to a shooting near the intersection of Grass Meadows Dr. and Fieldmouse Ave. near Lewis Family Park.

When police arrived, they began locating the area where the shooting occurred.

Police said they then located a vehicle parked on Grass Meadow Dr. and the Tree Line Dr. was parked.

They noticed a man lying on the ground in front of the driver's door.

Police began rendering aid and paramedics arrived shortly after, officials say.

The man was taken to Sunrise Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Officers said while they were securing the scene, a citizen approached them about the shooting.

He told officers he saw two men wearing dark clothing and ski masks running past him from the area where the shooting occurred, police said.

The citizen told officers the two men ran into an apartment in a complex across from the park.

Police said the man told them the specific apartment where the two men ran.

LVMPD secured the area around the building and attempted to make contact with residents of the apartment.

About 20 minutes later, after attempting to contact the residents, two men left the apartment.

They were taken into custody without incident, officials say.

Investigators believe this was an illegal black market sale.

Investigators believe there may have been arguments or robberies during the transaction, during which the victim was shot.

Police are pretty sure that the two men who ran into the apartment are the suspects in this murder.

According to LVMPD, there are no other outstanding individuals at this time.

Police will examine the crime scene in the next few hours.

According to LVMPD, they are awaiting a search warrant to search the vehicle and residence.

Investigators are urging witnesses to contact the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department or Crimestoppers.
