Liam Hemsworth talks about taking over from Henry Cavill The Witcher. Cavill played the main role of Geralt in The Witcher from the beginning of the series to leaving the show afterwards The Witcher Season 3. After his retirement as Geralt, Cavill was replaced by Hemsworth The Witcher Season 4. His replacement was highly controversial among many fans felt that Cavill was an irreplaceable element of the show.

I'll keep talking Live with Kelly & MarkHemsworth discussed his experience taking over from Cavill on The Witcher. Hemsworth noted that he had not seen the television show or read the books at the time of the call. However, he had played the video game he “one of the best video games of all time.” He said that he “was really excited to take on this character because he was a fan of the video game“It's now been nine months since filming. Check out Hemsworth's full quote below:

I hadn't seen the TV show. And I hadn't read the books. But I played the video game like ten years ago or something. And it remains one of the best video games of all time to this day. And Netflix came to me almost two years ago and said they wanted me to just step in and take over.

I was really excited about taking on this character since I was a fan of the video game. But I said, you know, let me watch the TV show and the books and really get into it.

I've been filming a series called The Witcher for the last nine months. We were (in Wales) for two weeks. And the first week was beautiful sunshine and blue skies. And then the second week was kind of like tornado season.

What Hemsworth's statement means for The Witcher

Liam Hemsworth's appreciation for the games is a good sign

Liam Hemsworth as Geralt in The Witcher, sports blonde hair and looks stoic.

While die-hard fans of The Witcher Although the series is still struggling with the transition from Cavill to Hemsworth, Hemsworth's statement is promising evidence of how he will play the role. While he wasn't a huge fan of the TV series itself before being offered the role by Netflix, Hemsworth was very familiar with the franchise from the games. Such an avid fan of the games will likely be interested in getting Geralt's interpretation right, which bodes well for Hemsworth's performance in the role.

The Witcher
Season 4 does not yet have a release date.

Hemsworth's status as a fan of The Witcher Video games also give him more resemblance to Cavill. An avid gamer, Cavill was known to be a big fan of it Years before playing Geralt in the series, he had already played several video games and has linked his experience playing the games to the reason why he wanted to play the character in the series. Even fans who would strongly prefer Cavill in the role may appreciate his similar background to Hemsworth, which might make them more receptive to the change.

Our take on the Witcher switch from Henry Cavill to Liam Hemsworth

The signs point to Liam Hemsworth

Although I can understand the upset over the loss of Cavill The WitcherI think Hemsworth's connection to the source material is a good sign. The Video games are arguably the best medium of the series, as Hemsworth expresses in his statement. So a fan of the games is someone who can portray that main character well and let Geralt bring out the qualities that make that character great. For these reasons, nothing can be certain yet The Witcher With the release of season four, I think there is still hope for Hemsworth's portrayal.
