KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Business is booming in the Kansas City metro area as business preparations continue and the Royals and Chiefs take the field Monday night.

Q39 Executive Chef Phillip Thompson and the staff are chopping, seasoning and grilling as usual on Sundays, but are preparing for increased requests from Kansas Citians and New Orleans Saints fans.

“(Sunday) We burned almost 1,500 pounds of brisket with 200 ribeyes, we're doing the same thing again on Monday. A typical Monday – that’s probably double what we normally do,” he said.

The Royals, who played in October, also changed the amount of meat they prepared.

“We are already expecting larger numbers than we would normally see in October with the Royals playing home games,” he said. “It’s great for us, great for business and great for Kansas City.”

At the Country Club Plaza, Granfalloon's bar is well stocked and a packed weekend team will be back on Monday night as Saints fans are already marching in.

“Usually all the seats are taken,” said The Granfalloon owner Tim Caniglia. “Now it will be standing room only, so I would recommend people, whether here or wherever they go, they need to get there early because the seats will fill up quickly.”

Searching online for hotels in the Plaza and KCTV5 found that The Raphael, Aloft, Residence Inn, The Courtyard and many more are sold out Sunday through Tuesday.

Curtis Dooley joined his friends and family in updating their Saints gear at Granfalloon after traveling from New Orleans earlier this weekend. They enjoyed the NFL Sunday action on the numerous televisions, the food, drinks and the general atmosphere in the back of the restaurant.

“Most of us have season tickets to Saints games. We love when people come to New Orleans and spend their money, so we want to do the same,” Dooley said.
