The reigning Premier League Player of the Year had a quiet start to the season but he shone in Slovakia

Manchester City were in scintillating form as they secured a 4-0 win over Slovan Bratislava in the Champions League on Tuesday. Jeremy Doku, Rico Lewis and Phil Foden were the stars of the show, with the England attacking midfielder particularly effective with a goal and an assist.

Ilkay Gündogan, Erling Haaland and James McAtee were also among the goals, while Belgian winger Doku caused havoc on the right and Lewis impressed by providing City with plenty of support and energy.

Apart from an early scare from a Bratislava counterattack, City easily asserted their dominance and took the lead after just eight minutes when a blocked shot from Gündogan was fired home thanks to a big deflection. Doku, whose cross contributed to the opening goal, was on the ball again less than 10 minutes later when he got to the ball down the right wing and hit Foden to send it into the bottom corner.

City were on the rise and continued to test goalkeeper Dominik Takac, but the Slovakian side managed to keep the Premier League champions out until their defense gave Haaland a chance just before the hour mark. The Norwegian striker had a quiet night overall, but made no mistake when the Bratislava backline opened up for him following a pass from Lewis, and he made no mistake in finishing.

Pep Guardiola's team continued to assert themselves and managed to score a fourth goal when Foden chipped in for substitute McAtee, who scored his first senior goal for the English champions.
