Manchester United face a difficult week with two away games that could either ease the pressure on coach Erik ten Hag through wins or make their position increasingly precarious through defeats.

The first thing on the agenda on Thursday evening is the trip to Porto in the Europa League. Porto finished third in the Portuguese league last season and are second this time, three points behind champions Sporting after seven games. They lost their first Europa League game at Norwegian club Bodo/Glimt 2-3, despite their opponents being reduced to ten men in the second half.

United suffered a poor 1-1 draw against Dutch side Twente before being beaten by Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend. Ten Hag urgently needs his players' response in Porto ahead of another big challenge in Sunday's Premier League friendly at Aston Villa.

Here's a summary of Manchester United's injury concerns.

Kobbie Mainoo

The midfielder was substituted in the 3-0 defeat to Tottenham but trained with the team this week and appears to be fully fit.

Mason Mount

Mount came on as a substitute against Spurs but had to be taken off again with a head injury. He was unable to practice this week, but it is believed to have been a precautionary measure after he sustained a minor cut, rather than a concussion. He is questionable for Porto but is likely to be available for this weekend's trip to Aston Villa.

Harry Maguire

Maguire missed the game against Tottenham due to an unspecified injury in training but was back in training this week and is expected to be available.

Victor Lindelof

Lindelof is back in training and the Swedish defender could make his first appearance of the season in the coming weeks.

Luke Shaw

The full-back's injury problems have continued this season but he could return later this month after his calf strain progressed.

Leny Yoro

The highly paid newcomer is not expected to be fit again until November after a broken foot bone. “Yes, he is doing very well,” Ten Hag said last week. “It is very pleasing that his rehab is going in the right direction and I expect him soon, but what I mean by soon is that he is now in the right planning process.”

“He is in the right place and will return to the squad and then to team training as quickly as possible.”

Tyrell Malacia

The full-back missed the entire 2023/24 season due to a knee injury but was named in United's Europa League group stage squad, suggesting a return is imminent. However, as Malacia has still not taken part in team training, a return in November is likely.
