What's the trend all about?

Although people often look forward to Halloween and the spooky season in October, this trend is all about love.

The October 1st trend was sparked by the popular song “We Fell In Love In October.”

Norwegian singer Girl In Red's song peaked at number 14 on (you guessed it) Billboard Hot Rock Songs in October 2019 and peaked at number 21 on the Rock Streaming Songs chart the same month in 2023.

The new trend involves bragging about your relationship on TikTok on October 1st or gloating about wanting to be in a relationship while “We Fell In Love In October” plays in the background.

What is the song about?

The song is about falling in love and getting into a relationship with another girl.

The lyrics include: “You look so pretty and I love that view / We fell in love in October / That's why I love fall / Looking at the stars.”
/ Admiring from afar.”

Followed by “My girl, my girl, my girl / You’ll be my girl.”

Why did the song go viral?

The song has become a hit for women in a same-sex relationship to express their love for their partner.

Men who are in relationships with women also started posting the trend on TikTok on October 1, 2024 as a tribute to their girlfriends.

However, the viral TikTok trend is not just limited to people who are in a relationship.

Most videos trending “1. October” is about singles who want to get into a relationship.

One person posted a video of themselves scrolling through TikTok saying, “POV: U on October 1st watching stories.”

While another wrote: “I hope I get posted for October 1st” and received more than a million views.

How long has this trend been around?

The October 1st trend has existed since 2023.

The video trend has more than 50.5 million posts on TikTok and billions of views dedicated to love.

Keep an eye on October 1st trends to see if you're lucky enough to get posted.
