Minnesota Lynx look to defeat Connecticut Sun in Game 4

UNCASVILLE, CONN. – After the Lynx defeated Connecticut 90-81 on Friday, taking a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five semifinals and securing a win out of the WNBA Finals, Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve spoke about the impact that After her goal, Courtney Williams had 16 points and eight assists.

“Phee was great,” Reeve said of Napheesa Collier, who scored 26 points, made 11 of 19 shots and had 11 rebounds. “But Courtney Williams, their playmaker, she did that for us. And if we can do it again now, that would be great.”

Then she looked at Williams: “Now, Courtney, don’t let your head get big. We have to try to win another game.”

Williams said, “I have your coach.”

What the Lynx have is the lead in a series between two fairly even teams. They did it by scoring 90 points on the road, shooting better than 57%, scoring 48 points and going 16-4 off the bench against one of the best defensive teams in the league.

The two teams will meet again in Game 4 on Sunday at 4 p.m. at Mohegan Sun Arena. A win would send the Lynx to the WNBA Finals for the first time since 2017. But listening to the Suns team after the game, it's clear they're not ready to end this streak just yet.

“We didn’t come to compete,” Connecticut star Alyssa Thomas said. “It didn’t matter where we were defensively, you have to look in the mirror and want it. We have to go back to the drawing board and play guys that come out and are ready to fight.”
