CBS News Miami's NEXT weather team has issued NEXT warnings through Wednesday.

Deep tropical moisture associated with a weak non-tropical depression and later rain bands Hurricane Milton in the Gulf of Mexico will bring heavy rain and the risk of flooding to South Florida.

Expect on Monday heavy rain and possible flooding unrelated to Hurricane Milton. There will be a slight break in the persistent rain on Tuesday, with some lingering showers. However, expect to feel the effects of Milton due to the storm's strong winds.

According to the National Hurricane Center:

  • Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, warns visitors of park closures due to Hurricane Milton.
  • Several cities in South Florida have exhibited an eatery emergency.
  • Hurricane warnings are now in effect for portions of Florida's west coast from Chokoloskee to the mouth of the Suwanee River, including Tampa Bay. The Dry Tortugas and Lake Okeechobee are also under a hurricane watch.
  • A flash flood watch is in effect from Flamingo in the Everglades to the Suwannee River.
  • A tropical storm warning has been issued for the Florida Keys
  • A flood warning is in effect for all of South Florida until 8 a.m. October 10th.
  • Hurricane and storm surge watches will likely be required for parts of Florida.
  • Rainfall amounts of 5 to 10 inches, locally up to 15 inches, are expected in parts of the Florida Peninsula and the Keys through Wednesday night.
