The San Francisco 49ers were expected to be among the favorites to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl for the second year in a row, but that's not how they played.

The 49ers suffered a disappointing 24-23 loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday and are now just 2-3 on the season.

San Francisco scored all of its points in the first half and held a 10-point lead early in the fourth quarter before Arizona staged a comeback. It's the second time this season the team has blown a double-digit lead in an NFC West game after losing to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 3.

49ers quarterback Brock Purdy completed just 19 of his 35 passes for 244 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions, the second of which came with less than two minutes left in the fourth quarter and sealed the game.

Fans and pundits on social media didn't hesitate to point out San Francisco's recent shortcomings following Sunday's loss:

If you don't convert red zone trips into touchdowns and then turn the ball over on offense, you deserve to lose
The 49ers have a Bosa interception and a blocked field goal preventing a big deficit in this game.

The #49ers are not a good team at the moment. Just accept it. Good teams don't do the things they do.

Another terrible, terrible loss for them #49ers who fall to 2-3 on the season as a short week-long trip to Seattle looms. Between this game and the Rams game are arguably two of the worst losses of the Kyle Shanahan era.
They are now 0-2 in the NFC West and 0-3 in NFC games.

The 49ers were without star running back Christian McCaffrey, who has not played this season because he is suffering from an Achilles tendon injury. The team's offense still has enough talent to be successful, but seemed disjointed at times throughout the year.

San Francisco will need to regroup quickly as it will be back in action the next day Thursday Night Football in another NFC West matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.
