North Carolina native Luke Combs is planning “something very special” to help after Helene

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) – North Carolina native Luke Combs said he is planning “something really special” after Helene hit much of the western part of the state last week.

Some areas in the mountains of North Carolina received up to 29 inches of rain during the storm, causing catastrophic flooding. Homes and buildings were destroyed, roads were washed out and dozens died.

Asheville was one of the hardest hit communities and is home to AC Reynoldswhere the country star attended high school. Another area that was hit hard was Boone, home of Appalachian State Universitywhich Combs also attended.

“Absolutely heartbroken for everyone affected by Hurricane Helene,” he said in one Social media post on Saturday. “Especially my people in Western North Carolina. My team and I have made some calls and I think we have something very special in mind to help the Carolinas as best we can.”

He did not elaborate on the plans but said more details would be announced.

Elsewhere in North Carolina: Panthers owner David Tepper $3 million pledged to the rebuilding effort and the Carolina Hurricanes will donate the ticket proceeds from the game this Wednesday to help those in need.
