Hello Mr./Ms./Mrs. NYT, I have a question for you: To what extent is a MUFFIN a PASTRY? Or a SCONE? STURDLE, yes. CROISSANT, definitely. Danish, sure. GALETTE…well, we'll get to that in a moment. But not MUFFIN or SCONE, which are both quick breads or possibly cakes. Maybe I'm missing a crucial detail here – I'm not a chef – but I just don't understand why they were included.

Luckily, it wasn't too difficult for me to find them anyway, because I'm aware that the NYT sometimes makes strange decisions when it comes to categorization, so I'm always on the lookout for oddities. However, that didn't help me with GALETTE, especially because I've never heard that word before. Still, they look pretty, so next time I see one I'll try one.
