Bills thwart their own comeback with an ugly 23-20 loss to the Texans Broncos CB Pat Surtain returns the interception 100 yards for a touchdown

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — The Miami Dolphins removed Odell Beckham Jr. from the physically unable to perform list on Saturday, clearing the way for the veteran receiver to make his season debut Sunday in New England.

Beckham signed a one-year deal with the Dolphins in May but missed the first four games of the season after suffering what he called a “minor rehabilitation” of his knee during the offseason.

He said I'm moving on PUP list wasn't what he wanted, but ultimately he made the best decision for the team.

“For me it was a selfless act,” Beckham said, “because if I'm not on the PUP list, I'm taking a roster spot, which means I'm taking someone else's job and doing nothing.” It’s not really a good feeling.”

He practiced for the first time Thursday, hoping to get into game shape to boost Miami's struggling offense.

The Dolphins average 11.3 points per game, the worst in the NFL, with 187.3 passing yards per game and 97.8 rushing yards. Four different quarterbacks have snapped for them due to injuries.

Beckham, a three-time Pro Bowler who won a Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams, said it was difficult for him to watch the Dolphins struggle from the sidelines.

“I would have preferred us to be 4-0 now,” Beckham said, “and then feel like, 'Oh, I can't wait to get in,' rather than be where we are and feel like “I feel like I should have been out there fighting with them, win, lose or draw.”

Coach Mike McDaniel said Beckham looked good in his first practice.

“It was exciting to see how he performed on offense,” McDaniel said Friday. “He did a good job yesterday, he looked good. But as I'm in my third year as a head coach, I'm curbing my excitement. I’m trying to see how he feels and looks today after a little workload and then take responsibility for the team.”

McDaniel said Beckham will likely have a limited role on Sunday that will increase in his next game. The Dolphins have a bye week after their game against the Patriots and then travel to the Indianapolis Colts.

The Dolphins also re-signed quarterback Tim Boyle to the practice squad on Saturday and elevated him to the active roster along with cornerback Nik Needham. Cornerback Cam Smith was ruled out.
