Owners of the Guardians' AL Central Division rival will deal with the sales team

The Pohlads are the third-longest-serving ownership group of all major league franchises after the Steinbrenners (Yankees) and White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf.

Carl Pohlad bought the twins in 1984 for $44 million. After his death in 2009, he was Major League Baseball's richest owner, according to Sportico.com

After the Twins faltered and missed the playoffs in 2024, they fired four coaches, including their entire hitting staff, and saw senior vice president and general manager Thad Levine leave the club after eight seasons.

Manager Rocco Baldelli is expected to return for his seventh season in the dugout next year. The Twins have only had four managers in the last 38 seasons, accounting for most of the Pohlad family's ownership.

Revenue could be a problem for Minnesota because the Twins' contract with Bally Sports North, worth $42 million per year, expires in 2023. On Tuesday, MLB announced it would produce and distribute Twins games as well as broadcasts of the Guardians and Brewers in 2025.

The Twins' payroll has been in the bottom half of the league for a dozen seasons.

Pohlad's statement read:
