The Boston Bruins return to the ice tonight for their fourth preseason game in the last six days, making the short trip to Philadelphia to play the Flyers. Here we start with the latest Boston Bruins news.

The Bruins travel to the Flyers on Saturday evening

The Bruins travel briefly to Philadelphia on Saturday evening to take on the Flyers in their fourth preseason game. They will add a few more players from last season's squad who will make their debut in the preseason.

Striker Trent Frederic will be in the lineup, along with John Beecher, Fabian Lysell, Matthew Poitras, Georgii Merkulov and Morgan Geekie highlighting the bigger names. Hampus Lindholm will travel to Boston along with Andrew Peeke, Mason Lohrei and Frederic Brunet on defense. Accordingly Steve Conroy of the Boston HeraldThe plan is for Joonas Korpisalo to be in goal the entire game. With this plan, you have to assume that he will become a starter in Jim Montgomery's eyes while Jeremy Swayman is still out of camp without a contract.

Jackson Edward makes his preseason debut

Future defenseman Jackson Edward will make his preseason debut against the Flyers. He is an interesting candidate for the black and gold category and he has met with the media and said what he plans to do.

“Just putting myself out there and helping the team win,” Edward said. “It’s exciting, the first time I’m playing.”

Montgomery is still evaluating the McAvoy/Zadarov pairing

In Thursday night's 5-2 loss to the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden, the Bruins coaching staff got their first look at a potential new defensive pairing with Charlie McAvoy alongside Nikita Zadarov, and the third-year head coach had an idea about how well they were doing.

“Things looked good in practice,” Montgomery said. “But the game wasn't great, but our team wasn't great. “We'll see how it looks and how it develops. “It's too early.”

This defensive pairing is very interesting. Zadarov is a physical defenseman who can complement McAvoy's ability to carry the puck and create offense through the neutral zone into the attacking zone. Expect them to get together one more time before the season begins on October 8th against the Florida Panthers.
