Renwick and Makar lead #12/11 Maine past AIC to their season-opening win

ORONO, Maine – Nolan Renwick had two goals and two assists Taylor Makar Scored two goals and an assist as the No. 12-11 University of Maine men's hockey team defeated AIC 6-0 in the 2024-25 season opener in front of a sellout crowd at Alfond Arena on Saturday night.

Three other Black Bears had multiple points, with Ross Mitton scored three assists Brandon Holt And Frank Djurasevic each had two assists.

Makar scored the first goal 95 seconds into the game and then increased the lead to 2-0 at the start of the second period. A Harrison Scott The goal made the final score 3-0 before the second break. Just 41 seconds into the third period, Renwick shot a one-timer from the left circle and repeated the same play three minutes later in his first multi-goal game of his career. A Thomas Freel Powerplay score with 10 minutes to play, final score 6-0.
