Best Saints-Chiefs “ManningCast” moments LeBron James Honors Patrick Mahomes' Greatness During 'MNF'

This offseason, some critics were bold enough to argue that New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara was out of the woods. While he was coming off the least productive season of his career, Saints fans warned everyone that Kamara would remind them how elite he is now that he's playing in Klint Kubiak's offense.

Four weeks into the season, that's exactly what's happening. Kamara leads the league in yards from scrimmage with 536 and touchdowns with six. He has already received Player of the Week honors this season, and given the way he and the New Orleans offense are playing, that may not be the only award he receives this season.

Beyond accolades, the veteran running back is well on his way to accomplishing something he has never accomplished in his career. That means rushing for 1,000 yards in a single season. Although it's hard to believe since Kamara is one of the best running backs of his generation, he hasn't surpassed 1,000 yards in any of his first seven seasons.

He is currently averaging 90.5 yards per game at 1,539 yards, which is well over 1,000 yards. That means he still has some leeway in the next 13 games.

Of course, projections are just projections. There are several factors that could ultimately prevent Kamara from continuing at his current pace. Injuries are a possibility, not just for him, but also for the linemen manning his lanes. Additionally, New Orleans' offense could simply disintegrate and not be as productive as it has been.

Saints fans hope none of this happens. Kamara is a special talent and everyone wants to see him on the field. With him on the field, New Orleans will score points and give themselves a chance to win games.

The most yards the five-time Pro Bowler has rushed for in a season is currently 932, and he did that in 2020 when he played in just 15 games. He also scored 16 rushing touchdowns and caught 83 passes for 756 yards and five touchdowns this season. He was named second-team All-Pro that year, which was undoubtedly the best individual season of his career.

If everything goes well, this season could be even better.
