Sam Darnold makes a modest admission before Sunday's game with the Jets on time

Minnesota Vikings starting quarterback Sam Darnold is off to a great start to the season with his new team.

The NFL journeyman is only 27 years old and has played some of the best football of his career this year with competent offensive weapons. Through four games, Darnold has completed 68.9% of his passes for 932 yards and 11 touchdowns with just three interceptions, leading Minnesota to a 4-0 start.

As is often the case in sport, team fitness contributes significantly to success. For Darnold, who has played for the Jets, Panthers and as a backup to Brock Purdy with the 49ers, it is clear that he has finally found a good place in Minnesota, even with rookie JJ McCarthy in the starting lineup next season, as soon as he is healthy.

Darnold was asked to reflect on his time with New York and whether or not he was let down by the team that drafted him as he prepares to play against his former club this Sunday.

Darnold, as always, took the high road.

“I had a lot of opportunities in New York, I always felt like I could have played better there,” Darnold replied.

The past is the past, and Darnold will look to continue pushing forward and playing good football when the Vikings take on the Jets in London on Sunday.
