Scenes of destruction, flooding after Hurricane Milton in Florida

Hurricane Milton hit Florida's Gulf Coast on Wednesday evening, packing winds of 120 miles per hour as a Category 3 storm and bringing a new wave of destruction to an area already reeling from the devastation of Hurricane Helene last month.

According to officials in St. Lucie County, Florida, Milton spawned numerous tornadoes that killed at least four people. The storm also knocked out power to more than three million customers and caused a storm surge of several feet to hit parts of the Florida coast.

As dawn came Thursday, scenes of destruction emerged behind Milton as the storm moved across the state and out into the Atlantic. Here's a look at some scenes.
