The Orioles have 12 pitchers and 14 position players for the Wild Card series against the Royals, which begins this afternoon at damp Camden Yards.

Albert Suárez pitched six innings on Sunday and was left off the roster pending perhaps a start in the Division Series if the Orioles can advance. Rookie Cade Povich did it, giving the Orioles five lefties in a nine-man bullpen.

The big surprise is Colin Selby beating Matt Bowman after the Orioles recalled him on Sunday. Selby made three appearances. Bowman struck out 15, including one start as the opener, and posted a 3.45 ERA in 15 2/3 innings.

The 14 position players who finished the regular season remained with the club until the first round of the playoffs. The Orioles retained infielder Emmanuel Rivera and outfielder Heston Kjerstad. With a 13-13 split one of them would probably have been eliminated.

The starter for Game 2 obviously depends on the outcome of Game 1. Corbin Burnes is on the mound this afternoon.

The Royals have added first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino to the roster. He's coming back from a broken thumb about two weeks early.

Pasquantino brings a big hitter, posting 30 doubles, two triples, 19 home runs and 97 RBIs in 131 games. He hasn't played since August 29th.
