Selena Gomez gets parenting advice from her friend Mariska Hargitay.

The singer spoke to the Law & Order: SVU actress for an interview with Interview magazine this week and admitted that she wants to be a mother herself one day.

“How does balancing work – because I remember picking up your kids from school one day and I really enjoyed that. This felt so normal and real. “How do you balance that?” Gomez asked. “Because I hope I can do it one day.”

Hargitay replied, “And you will. It’s hard for all working mothers. There were so many moments where I was torn or frustrated because in our job you can't say, 'Guys, I'm not coming in today. '” Hargitay replied. “But I integrated them here. My children come to work with me.”

“Are there things I miss? Yes. The flip side is that my kids are really proud of me. I talk to them a lot about what kind of life you want, who you want to be and how you feel.” “Do you want to spend your time? And what do you want to give back and who do you want to influence and what do you want to create?”

“But I took August to work with me every day the first year. And you can too. It’s doable,” Hargitay told Gomez. “I am happier and live a more fulfilling life, and they feel and see that. And when I’m with them, I’m with them.”

This came when Gomez told Vanity Fair that she couldn't bear her own children.

“I've never said this before… but unfortunately I can't carry my own children,” Gomez said. “I have many medical issues that would endanger my life and that of the baby. That was something I had to mourn for a while…”
