Iran has launched a ballistic missile attack on Israel Dolphins consider changes after third straight loss

Davante Adams was sidelined in the final minutes of the Las Vegas Raiders' practice on Thursday, suffering a hamstring injury that is expected to keep the star wide receiver sidelined week-to-week, league sources told ESPN.

The Raiders didn't try to act as if Adams could play on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns and ruled him out on Friday, a sign that this could lead to an absence lasting several weeks.

As a source told ESPN this weekend, wide receiver and hamstring injuries are not a good combination. Eagles wide receiver AJ Brown injured his hamstring Friday before Philadelphia's Week 2 game against the Atlanta Falcons and will miss his third straight game on Sunday.

The Raiders were already in the middle of a turbulent week in which they considered but ultimately decided against changing their starting quarterback. Raiders coach Antonio Pierce said he would make some “business decisions” before losing Adams and Pro Bowl defensive lineman Maxx Crosby to injuries.

Crosby battled a left ankle sprain he suffered near the end of the Raiders' Week 2 win at Baltimore and tried to play through the injury in last Sunday's loss to the Carolina Panthers.

Pierce told reporters after an embarrassing 36-22 home loss that he believes “there were definitely some individuals who made business decisions, and we will continue to make business decisions.”

Those comments led to speculation that the Raiders would consider trading Adams, but that's not an option right now — and wasn't last summer either.

According to league sources, the Raiders turned down several teams that approached them over the summer and asked if Adams would be available for a trade. According to sources, the Raiders viewed an Adams trade as a non-starter and turned down at least two teams before an offer could even be made.

As for the quarterback position, the Raiders opted to stick with veteran incumbent Gardner Minshew rather than Aidan O'Connell. But the quarterback competition has been so tight throughout training camp and even this season that Minshew will be the starter against the Browns, but O'Connell could be used at any time, according to league sources.

Team sources said they believed Minshew would keep the job as long as he played well and the team won.

With Adams out, Minshew will have to rely on other pass-catchers against Cleveland like Jakobi Meyers and rookie tight end Brock Bowers.

The Raiders are used to adjusting to life without Adams. When they played in preseason last summer, Adams was away from the team to be with his pregnant wife, who gave birth to the couple's first son.

“Overall, no one has to be Davante Adams,” Pierce said Friday. “I don’t need another Davante. There's only one, right? I just need the best version of Jakobi Meyers.”

“We’ll see what happens on Sunday, but we feel really positive about giving these guys the last 12 hours and now today, tomorrow to get ready for the game.”

Adams has 18 catches for 209 yards and a touchdown in three games. He last missed a game with the Green Bay Packers in 2021. Bowers, the Raiders' first-round draft pick at No. 13 overall, leads all NFL tight ends with 18 catches for 197 yards and expects to be even more involved.
