Veteran starting left guard Isaac Seumalo practiced for the Pittsburgh Steelers for the first time during the regular season on Wednesday, raising hopes that he could make his 2024 debut on Sunday.

Seumalo suffered a chest injury at the end of pre-season and had not trained or played since. Coach Mike Tomlin indicated that Seumalo would test his injury on Wednesday and the Steelers would move forward from there on the week.

Seumalo was listed as a limited participant in practice on Wednesday's league-mandated injury report.

Spencer Anderson started the Steelers' first three games in Seumalo's place and was temporarily replaced by rookie Mason McCormick in last week's win against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Reserve tight end MyCole Pruitt (knee), outside linebacker Alex Highsmith (groin) and running back Jaylen Warren (knee) were unable to practice Wednesday due to injuries. Pruitt is expected to miss the second straight game when the Steelers face the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, and Highsmith also will not play.

Warren's status is not yet known. The Steelers will practice two more times before releasing their final official status report on Friday. The Steelers' other top running back, Najee Harris, did not practice Wednesday, but the team gave the reason: “Non-injury, rest.”

Under that designation – albeit a limited participant – were a number of veterans: outside linebacker TJ Watt, cornerback Donte Jackson and defensive linemen Cam Heyward and Larry Ogunjobi.

Rookie receiver Roman Wilson remains on the injured list despite being cleared late last week for an ankle injury he suffered early in training camp. Wilson practiced intensively on Wednesday, as did veteran receiver Van Jefferson. Jefferson missed much of Sunday's victory after being stabbed in the eye.

New to the injury report was starting safety DeShon Elliott, who was listed as limited Wednesday with a quadriceps injury.

According to a status report dated September 5, starting quarterback Russell Wilson was considered limited for the ninth straight season due to his calf injury. Tomlin said the team plans to have Justin Fields start for the fourth consecutive season.
