Suspect wanted for hitting 12-year-old with car in Brooklyn Park

Brooklyn Park police are asking for the public's help in locating a suspect involved in a hit-and-run attack that injured a girl on Wednesday.

Police said a 12-year-old girl was hit by a car around 8:42 a.m. as she tried to cross the street to get to her bus stop at the intersection of 63rd Avenue and Boone Avenue.

According to police, the driver of the vehicle did not stop after the incident but continued eastbound on 63rd Avenue. The girl was taken to hospital with “moderate injuries” and is expected to recover from her injuries.

Brooklyn Park District Inspector Elliot Faust told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS that the car, a 2015-19 Hyundai Sonata, was missing its passenger side rearview mirror.

“The passenger mirror is missing. “We assume that the driver is a white woman,” said Faust. “They didn’t stop and we want to find them and talk to them about the incident.”

Keion Martin told KSTP that he was walking his children to school when they heard the sound of an accident and then saw the aftermath of the incident.

“The car came through very quickly and sounded like any other car trying to stop. I thought it was a car accident,” Martin said.

If you have any information about this vehicle, call Brooklyn Park Police at 763-493-8222.
