Brock Purdy puts on a show against the Cardinals (and Tom Brady agrees) Even Kevin Durant was in awe of Joe Flacco when the Colts narrowly lost to the Jaguars

Sweeney said that while Swayman is now suspended, fellow goaltender Joonas Korpisalo will remain as the opening night starter so the Alaska native can properly prepare after missing all of training camp.

“He will be in a good position to support Joonas on opening night and he and (goalkeeping coach Bob Essensa) will decide when he feels comfortable, but it won't be because he doesn't feel that much in pre-season “He can be the first,” Sweeney said. “Game representatives are game representatives. The preseason is there for a reason to take some steps backwards, but like I said, he's working hard and hopefully he'll be ready to go as soon as possible. But he and goalie Bob will still have work to do. I’m happy to have him back in the net.”

Swayman, a graduate of the University of Maine, revealed that he trained with the Terriers on and off the ice during training camp at Boston University to stay in the best shape possible.

“I'm a Black Bear at heart, Black Bear through and through, but I couldn't have done it without BU and the coaching staff — (head coach) Jay Pandolfo, (assistant coach) Kim Brandvold, (strength coach) Ken Whittier — and (goalie coach) Brian Daccord and all those guys in that locker room,” Swayman said. “I was there every day as soon as camp started. They gave me an oasis where I could completely escape the outside world. The great joy and support they have offered me, a great training ground to keep my game up to date throughout the whole process. I couldn't have done it without her.

“Although I am a black bear through and through, I am an honorary terrier. I really hope they feel the love and app reaction for what they have done for me. Forever indebted to the guys in the locker room.”

The backstop added that he will do everything he can to be ready to take the net as soon as possible.

“Even though I haven’t had as many flow drills and game scenarios lately, this will be something that clicks right away,” Swayman said. “As players, we all know that all it takes is a few good skates to get back into the rhythm. These are our tasks. My job is to do exactly that. When I start doing my reps, I will prepare for the game. I want to be ready to play straight away. It will be fun. I want to start every game. I’m looking forward to this challenge.”

And the challenge of bringing a Stanley Cup back to Boston.

“It gives me goosebumps,” Swayman said when asked about the chance to represent the city for another eight years. “This city is second to none. That's why so many players want to play here. I can't wait to represent it properly for another eight years.

“It's an incredible feeling. All I care about is moving forward and winning for his organization.”
