ORLANDO, Fla. – Several unrests threaten to break out in the Gulf of Mexico next week. A couple will arrive late into the weekend, bringing the risk of heavy rain. Another storm arriving during the week has the potential to develop into a strong tropical storm or hurricane.

There will be a few isolated storms on Saturday, but most of Central Florida will be dry.

Due to the first unrest later on Sunday there is a risk of heavy rain.

Clouds and rain

The most serious case is likely to occur south of Orlando.

A stronger disturbance could develop in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico as the work week begins. The National Hurricane Center estimates there is a 70% chance of this disturbance developing over the next seven days.

Clouds and rain

Gradual strengthening is then forecast as it moves east toward the Florida Peninsula. The chance of rain from the disturbance could arrive as early as late Tuesday evening, with the majority arriving on Wednesday.

Storm on Wednesday

Because the storm has not yet developed, its exact track and intensity remain uncertain. Heavy rainfall and the risk of flooding are likely near and around the center of the storm.

The main question is where exactly a band of heavy rain forms. Double-digit rainfall amounts are likely within this heavy rain corridor.

Rainfall totals

The heaviest rain could develop along and around I-4 or move further south toward Lake Okeechobee.

Those details will be refined beginning Monday as the storm takes shape in the Gulf of Mexico.
