Dolphins running back De'Vachane suffered a concussion late in the first quarter of Sunday's game at New England.

Achane was injured on a 12-yard run with 3:00 left. He was tackled out of bounds by Patriots safety Jaylinn Hawkins, whose helmet made contact with Achane's helmet during the tackle. Achane remained lying there for a few minutes while the team's trainers attended to him.

He was then taken to the medical tent on the sidelines and had to leave the game due to a concussion. He had three carries for 18 yards before leaving the game.

The third-round pick out of Texas A&M appeared last season but injured his knee against the Giants and was placed on injured reserve on Oct. 11. He was activated on November 18 and had 14 carries for 107 rushing yards and a receiving touchdown against the Bills. But he never regained his early season spark.

In 11 games and four starts as a rookie, Achane totaled 800 yards on 103 carries and eight touchdowns. He also had 27 receptions for 197 yards and three touchdowns.

The Dolphins have suffered a number of injuries to the offensive backfield in 2024. Raheem Mostert returned on Sunday after missing three games with a pectoral injury. Achane previously injured his ankle. Jeff Wilson (knee, oblique) and Alex Ingold (shoulder) were also injured. Rookie Jaylen Wright is healthy.

The Dolphins need the running game to improve. With Tua Tagovailoa still nursing a concussion and backup quarterback Skylar Thompson dealing with a bruised rib, Miami starts Tyler Huntley against the Pats as the passing game continues to struggle.
