Davante Adams: All I can control is what I do next New superstar WR moves to the Pittsburgh Steelers

Tuesday marks seven years since the mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival on the Las Vegas Strip left 58 people dead.

Years later, more victims were added after they also lost their lives due to complications from injuries they sustained on the night of October 1, 2017.

“My heart goes out to them. God bless her. It was a terrible, terrible ordeal,” said Las Vegas resident Joseph Sandoval, who showed up to pay his respects to the victims at the “Remembering 1 October” exhibit at the Clark County Government Center.

Seven years later, the tragedy of One October remains etched in the minds of more than just friends, family and loved ones of the people who lost their lives that tragic night.

“It was just surreal that something of this magnitude could happen and it was just unbelievable. It wasn't something you could just come to terms with, and even now, seven years later, it still has a big impact, at least for those of us who live here,” said Sara Cochrane, a Las Vegas resident.

Numerous memorial areas have been established throughout Las Vegas to honor the victims, such as the Remembering 1 October exhibit at the County Government Center and the Las Vegas Community Healing Garden. Many locals use the spaces to better reflect on the victims and the entire Las Vegas community.

“Since I didn't have anyone at this concert, I just want to say a special prayer for all the families who are still suffering. “I think of the suffering of the families, I think of the wasted lives that happened and I pray it doesn’t happen again,” Cochrane said. “It's like one gets hurt, everyone gets hurt. “The emotions you go through for so many people, whether you knew them or not, you feel for them and for the families.”

As the entire community continues to recover and make sense of what happened on October 1, some say the lasting effects of that tragic night have changed their perspective on life.

“As a result, I stay at home and no longer go to big events. I stayed at home. It was a terrible ordeal,” Sandoval said.

A memorial ceremony honoring the lives lost will be held at the Las Vegas Community Healing Garden on Tuesday at 10:05 p.m.
